WE for Equality: 2026 Memorable Women’s Month Celebration at ZSPI
Zamboanga Sibugay Polytechnic Institute (ZSPI) successfully celebrated the 2026 Women’s Month on March 26, 2026, at the ZSPI Midcamp, embracing the theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society: Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas.” The event gathered students, faculty, and staff in a unified effort to recognize the vital role of women in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society. The program commenced with the National Anthem, and Welcome remarks of Dr. Gladys A. Tiongco Ed.D, Vocational School Administrator III.
Various activities highlighted the talents, skills, and empowerment of women within the institution. The program featured contemporary dance competitions, spoken poetry, and skills demonstrations such as lemon grass preparation and Japanese cake making. In addition, non-traditional skills training, including tire inflation, extension wire making, and basic automotive tasks, emphasized gender inclusivity by encouraging women to explore diverse fields. A quiz bowl and other interactive segments further engaged participants while promoting awareness of women’s contributions and rights.
The highlight of the event was the keynote message delivered by Gernin S. Laraño, Education Program Supervisor of the Department of Education, who underscored the importance of leadership, equality, and empowerment among Filipinas.
The program concluded with the awarding of winners and recognition of participants, celebrating their active involvement and achievements. Overall, the 2026 Women’s Month celebration at ZSPI served as a meaningful platform to inspire the community to uphold gender equality and to lead with strength and resilience, much like the Babaylans of the past.
